[Translate to English:] Ab 29. Februar 2020 empfängt der Semperbau am Zwinger Besucherinnen und Besucher

At a ceremony on 28 February 2020, the Semperbau am Zwinger (Semper Building at the Zwinger) is to reopen after several years of general refurbishment. From 29 February 2020, the prominent museum building will open its doors to visitors from Saxony and all over the world. Further details about the opening weekend will be announced in due course. The Semperbau am Zwinger is home to the world-famous Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister (Old Masters Picture Gallery). After its reopening, the sculpture collection up to 1800 will also be presented there, in a dialogue with the paintings.

The opening was originally planned for 7 December 2019; however, the recent successful acquisition of additional private funding, and other factors, means that improvements can be made to the presentation of the works of art and the building infrastructure (see media release by Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden of 18.09.2019). The reopening has had to be postponed for these measures to be carried out.
