Forschung und wissenschaftliche Kooperation

Research at the museum combines collection-related questions with a larger scientific discourse. Research at the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden uses a variety of scientific methods and approaches and works in an interdisciplinary manner, above all through cooperation with universities, research institutes and museums in Germany and abroad.

Provenance Research

"Daphne" is a comprehensive and multi-year provenance research, registration and inventory project. A key instrument of the project is the museum’s database “Daphne”, which gave the project its name and which was developed to register all objects of the 1,2 million holdings. For the first time, thus making it a model project for all German museums, „Daphne“ allowed the systematic provenance research of all acquisitions since 1933.
