On Carl Robert Kummer’s 200th birthday

An exhibition by the Galerie Neue Meister from the serie “Show Cabinet”
June 20 to November 21, 2010

The newly established exhibition series “Show Cabinet” in the Albertinum is intended to present selected works from among the holdings of the Galerie Neue Meister which are not on permanent display owing to lack of space. The first “Show Cabinet” exhibition is dedicated to the Dresden landscape painter Carl Robert Kummer (1810 – 1889).

To mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Carl Robert Kummer, four of his works belonging to the Gallery are being displayed alongside a number of his paintings on loan from the Städtische Galerie Dresden and from private collections. This temporary dialogue offers an interesting insight into the œuvre of one of the most remarkable 19th-century landscape painters in Dresden.
